Clearbrook Elementary School Seeks Community Support to Spruce up Their Grounds
PTA organizing Grounds Spruce Up Day on August 6, starting at 8 a.m.
July 20, 2011, (ROANOKE COUNTY)--The Clearbrook Elementary School PTA is working on a project to spruce up the grounds around the school prior to Back to School Night on August 18.
Budget shortfalls have limited the resources available for grounds upkeep such as pruning and weeding at the school, so the PTA is working to make the school shine by organizing a Grounds Spruce-Up Day on Saturday, August 6 starting at 8 in the morning. Community members including parents, students, teachers, citizens, and businesses are asked to offer their support for one hour or more to assist with weeding, pruning, edging, planting, and mulching. If possible, volunteers are asked to bring gardening tools with them such as wheelbarrows, weed-eaters, edgers, shovels, rakes, pruners, trowels, gloves and even their trucks (if possible).
Local supporters of this project include Charlotte A. Moore, Cave Spring Supervisor and her landscaping company Dream Scapes. Ms. Moore lives a short distance from the Clearbrook Elementary School and went to school there as a child. She will be lending her landscaping expertise to the project by providing design guidance, pruning of the large mature trees as well as volunteering her time on August 6. The PTA is hoping to secure other local businesses that may be able to lend their assistance either by volunteering to garden on August 6 or by offering assistance with the purchase of trees, shrubs, flowers or even by providing refreshments for the volunteers who show up on Saturday.
Please register your participation by calling 772-7555.
